Hi everyone.
I have made a lot of roses and usually play with the paste colour (centre being darker) to get a real looking rose. I then use dust - such as a dash of green at the base of a white petal.
My problem is, I have a wedding cake with red roses. I am already looking for a fondant in a dark red - my usual is bright red (great for kids cakes, cars etc) I googled red fondant rose and noticed other people had used bright red and it didn't look as good as the dark ones others had made. Do you have a fondant with a nice dark red you use? OR can I add a gel colour to get the nice velvet red colour I need?
Now dusting - I thought of black's or purple maybe??? I don't have dark dust and I will have to make an order after reading your posts. Any advise would be good. I could wing it but as I have to buy stuff, I would like some advise before I waste money.
Thanks Kimmy
Thanks so much for the help - I do have burgundy and I can play with a bit of black. Both roses are lovely an very natural not bright and artificial red.
No need to order anything new but some dust, so I am over the moon!
