AI am making a giant cupcake to go on the top of a cupcake tower, but I cant quite work out how big a stand for my friend to buy? We need a tower about the size of the one in this photo I think but we dont know how big the top part needs to be and if perspex ones are strong enough? AThanks for the reply yes sorry i know what size of board i need for the top but how do i know what size of stand i need to get that 8" board at the top? Is the top tier 8"?
only the vendor can tell you that. you need to look at the specifications or call the vendor. every stand is different and some can be assembled in a variety of ways, as well.
AThe vendor said to me to tell them what to get! I'll ask my local cake raft shop I think :)
Don't get perspex, get acrylic, perspex is too bendy when you get to the bigger sizes and need to load the cupcakes on.
This stand would probably work for you: http://www.classikool.com/cake-stands-toppers-1/6-tier-acrylic-cup-cake-stand.html The top plate is 7", and I think the large cupcakes have a 5" or 6" base, not an 8". I've only ever made one and I borrowed the tin so I can't be sure, but I don't recall it being as large as 8".
