Does This Filling Need Refrigeration?

AWanting to use this filling but does it require refrigeration? 1/2 cup butter Dash of salt 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup evaporated milk 2 cups powdered sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

I'm not sure about the difference in refrigeration needs between evaporated milk and regular milk, but I think they're the same--i.e., both have to be refrigerated. I usually leave my american buttercream sitting out without refrigeration, and it has almost a half cup (5-6 tbsp) of milk in it, but it also has two pounds of sugar. Your filling has about half that sugar-to-milk ratio, so I'd say you should refrigerate it.
How's that for a non-scientific and unsubstantiated opinion? :p
I was wondering about this, too. There's a high amount of liquid in that recipe. Is it a cooked filling?
Evaporated milk comes in a can that sits on the shelf, so I would say no. I always pop it in after I open it, but I'm not sure if it says that on the can or not...

The tin says it requires refridgeration after opening - the same as long life milk. The reason it is able to be left at room temperature BEFORE opening would be because of how it is treated prior to sealing and also the sealing process itself, once it is open it is a different story though.
AIt is a cooked filling. It is a praline filling. It is heated to 232 degrees before taken off and mixed with the sugar
