AHow much would you charge for cookies like these? IF the cookies TASTE fabulous, and IF they cookies look as good or better than or exactly like the photo, and IF the person pays a rush fee or provides enough notice, and IF the person ordering pays BEFORE delivery (the info on the bottom of the photo says:
"I need about 10 of these by Monday!!! Please help!! No bakeries can.."
Then I would charge $7.50 a cookie.
[I just made up that number, because that is what I would charge if someone was willing to pay $75 for 10 cookies needed in 2 days.] There is a reason that each cookie would be expensive, and there is a reason that "No bakeries can [help].." These are CUSTOM COOKIES.
Custom cakes or cookies are luxury items. If someone wants these particular luxury cookies, and wants them in a hurry, then they will be willing to pay luxury prices. (The cookies also need to be exceptional in taste, appearance, and packaging appearance.)
AThanks y'all! I have sold lots of cupcakes but cookies are more of a hobby. When asked to make these, I knew I could do something similar but had no idea where to start price wise. Thanks a bunch!! And thank you sole dad for the transfer link! :)

Exactly. I don't do cookies anymore because the cheap cookie ladies put me out of the cookie business.
I'm with you there. I just always try to figure out why, why, why people undercharge and that's what I've kind of decided is one reason it's more prevalent with cookies. Cookies are so manageable, you know? Less mess in the kitchen, you don't have to learn how to bake or make fillings and icings. You don't have to learn all sorts of different techniques or even how to cover a cake in fondant. They don't take up much space or have to fit in the frig. Basically, I'm saying easier entry.
AJessica, not sure if that was in response to my post, but if it was, I said nothing about how long it takes. My point was that it's easier to get into the cookie business than the cake business and it seems like it's perceived as more fun to some people because so much of the time spent is on "painting" the cookie.

AI would consider this design to be fairly simple and thus the price would be driven more by size. I agree that $3.00 for about a 3 inch cookie of this design is appropriate (at least in my market). But I also agree that a rush order that requires me to adjust my week's schedule would jack the price up a bit, probably more like $4 per cookie.
I make cookies and cakes as well, and I find cookies to be much more manageable in terms of time and mess. I can break cookie decorating down in smaller chunks of time, but if I'm rolling out fondant for a three tier cake, I'm kinda stuck for awhile. I never thought I'd say it, but I enjoy doing cookies more because they are smaller and more flexible (at least for me at this point; I'm still a bit of a novice at both).
