Hi everyone,

I am new at cake decoration and I was wondering how high does each tier has to be. Does each tier has to be made with two cakes? When I see wedding cakes, it seems like each tier is made of 2 cakes of 3'' high each making it 6'' high. Thank u

My cakes are four inches high. I use two cakes which are each 2 inches high.  Sometimes I torte them to have four layers.

Mince, and most couture cake shops, make tall tiers - 5".  The standard for wedding is 4" per Wilton serving chart - but every decorator on here will give you a different answer on how high their cakes are or should be.

AIs that 4" after filling and covered or just the cake itself?
