Hi ..... I was trying to come up with a super yummy cake that is pretty different and tasted somewhat French, and I think I did it.

First, take a box of Duncan Hines white mix:

For the liquid, substitute fresh squeezed orange juice. (it has to be fresh squeezed)

For the oil, subsitute one stick of melted butter.

Add the required eggs

Put a tsp of orange extract into the batter

Use a micro plane or zester to zest all of your oranges you used for the juice. (I recommend zesting them before squeezing...it took about 4 oranges to get the required liquid.

Ok, now in a separate bowl, get a box of Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate Fudge.
Instead of water, use milk

Instead of oil, substitute one stick of melted butter

Put a tsp of orange extract into the batter.

And zest some more orange peel into the fudge batter

Add eggs

Now marble the two batters into your pans, and bake as directed on the box.

For the filling:

1. Smuckers Less Sugar orange marmalade

2. Chocolate orange ganache...melt over a low flame until all blended together:

1 lindt dark chocolate
3/4 cup white chocolate melts
1 tablespoon orange extract
1/2 pint of whipping cream (add little by little)

Torte your layers: First, brush each layer with some Grand Marnier.

Then, to the first layer: spread the chocolate ganache.
the second, add the marmalade; the third, spread more chocolate ganache.

For frosting, throw the rest of your ganache in with buttercream frosting and then add a tsp of orange extract. I am covering mine with fondant, but I first did the buttercream to crumb coat it.

I have to say, based on the sample taste I made with the cake scraps, it was an explosion of flavor between the orange and the chocolate, the marmalade and the ganache. I am taking this into my interview to the French pastry shop.
