Hey everyone

Just have a few quick questions re embossing rollers.  Would you emboss the fondant before you put it on the cake? Would it not stretch or deform the pattern? How would you use the smoother if it's got texture?

Thanks guys :)

Hi! I'm not sure if this will help you but thought I'll send it your way anyway :) I used an embossing mat to get a brick effect on the Thomas the train cake I made (you can see a pic in the pics I've uploaded). This is how I did it. I measured around the circumference and the height of the cake. Then I rolled out the fondant a little thicker than usual and cut it to the size I wanted. I then used the embossing mat to emboss the brick pattern and then carefully wrapped the fondant around the cake. Didn't need to use any cake smoothers. I haven't covered an entire cake with fondant with an embossed pattern on it. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable on the subject can help you some more! Good luck!
