AHi! I want to make a hot air balloon themed cake for my mom's b-day. Does it work to put gumpaste over a balloon to form a mold and then pop the balloon? Or, would it work to use candy melts over a balloon? This doesn't need to be large , just as a cake topper. Thanks for the help!:D

this balloon thing is done with melted chocolates for sure--i've never done it w/gum paste  or candy clay--and it's usually done producing small chocolate cups--no reason i can think of it wouldn't work well -- just wanna be sure the chocolate is tempered and coated thick enough--maybe dip a few layers thick--

but how will you suspend it?
