I have to make 500 cake pops for my cousins wedding in June.  I want to order the candy melts now since they do not ship in the summer.  Does anyone have an idea of how much I should order?  Also, what brand do you prefer to use?

AIf your using candy melts, I prefer Merkens to Wilton's. I'm sure they have larger bags.

I don't make cake pops that often so I'm not sure on the amount you'd want to order, hopefully someone with CP experience will be more helpful. There is an older thread you can search for that has tips about making large amounts.

She used 6lbs for 150. Im not sure how long the Choc would be good for though, I'd check before ordering. Also, the brand/flavor might also be a factor (milk, dark, white) maybe not since its candy coating. I'm curious, will look into.

I've heard people recommend paramount crystals for thinning, some even use Crisco.

AThank you for that website!!! I've thinned with crisco before, but I've only done small batches of a dozen or so. I'm nervous about doing so many!!

If you have questions I'd recommend sending a pm to Leah S, she's really nice and knows her stuff. Or google

If you want their opinion on when you should order. Quantity discounts are on their home page along with shipping rates.

It's a large project! I'm sure you'll be fine, just set up an assembly line, and split the work throughout the week or whatever works for you :)
