Good morning. I am taking a sheet cake on a 5-hour car ride tomorrow and have some fondant decorations to be added and a chocolate pine cone.  I'm wondering if I should add the decorations to the cake once we get there,or if it would be ok to go ahead and put then on before we leave.  I didn't know if the colors of the fondant (red and green and chocolate) would bleed into the buttercream during travel time.  On the other hand, I'm concerned that if I take them in a separate container that they may get damaged in the car.  The cake is for our family Christmas which will be tomorrow evening.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you!!

i wrap flowers, leaves, bows or whatever decor in paper towels or tissue paper sometimes with aluminum foil scrunched up in between to ensure no sliding around into each other and box them up just like i do the cakes--no worries-

geez there used to be a cake show and these great cake chicks in new york would carry thier flowers around stuck in the styrofoam all clinking together--and they had to get in taxis for delivery and all they needed was a few boxes and some packing material--omg what if they dropped 'em? or what if they clinked together one fateful last time and broke--used to kill me.

just box 'em up--no worries--

but decor on sheet cakes is usually not a problem either--
