Usual recipe not working in new doll cake pan

I have a new Alan silver wood 8" tiffin pan bought to make doll cakes. I have now tried it twice and my usual recipe which works great in normal round and square pans doesn't seem to work. First time it was burnt on the outside and soggy in the middle, so I turned oven down to 150 C and second attempt I baked at the lower temperature for almost 2 hours. This one baked evenly but it was SO dense. Any ideas why this was the case? Anyone got a good recipe / method for this type of tin? My daughter real ly wants a rapunzel cake for her birthday in 2 weeks! Need to get it right for then! TIA

i have the wilton wondermold for doll cakes, which came with a heating core.  The heating core does help to bake the middle evenly.  i wonder if that's why your cake is baking unevenly?
