How long can an iced cake last in the fridge/freezer?

I made a cake for a friend Saturday and then realized the party is not till next Saturday! If I freeze it will it be ok? It's buttercream and pudding....I'm so frustrated with myself now!

Put it in a cardboard box, then wrap the box with either aluminum foil or plastic wrap.  Place in the freezer.  It will be fine.  Freezing a cake stops the process of going stale, putting a cake in the refrigerator accelerates the process of going stale.

Take it out of the freezer about 2 hours before delivery.  LEAVE IT WRAPPED!  Condensation will form on the wrapping, not the cake.

Thank you! Not having to do the entire cake over will save me allot of stress and time!
