I found a bottle of Blood Orange coffee flavoring. I want to try using it in a cake. Any suggestions. I also think it would pair up nicely with chocolate ganache. I have no clue what blood orange will take like.
What do you think the best way to use it would be?
I love blood oranges but I've not heard of a blood orange coffee extract. I would think both blood orange and coffee would pair well with chocolate ganache.
AI'm sure that it's probably not an extract but a kind of flavoured syrup that coffee philistines add to their milky coffee drinks to make them less coffee-y.
AI bought a blood orange and it pretty much tasted like a regular orange. That's a sample of only one so maybe it wasn't representative. Orange and chocolate flavors are wonderful together. I may be wrong, but calling a flavor blood orange instead of just orange would be more a reference to the color than flavor. Though obviously if it literally comes from blood oranges, you'd also refer to it that way.
Thank you Godot and howsweet, Yes, it is as a syrup. I know blood oranges exist buy have never had one. I guess I didn't ask properly, what I really should have asked was would I make an orange flavored cake and use some of this to flavor it? Would you add it to a straight white cake?
