Fundraising with baked goods?

Every year I participate in an annual walk event with the local humane society and I try to raise around $1,000 by asking friends/family to sponsor me.

As a baker, I'm thinking about using my baked goods as a way to offer a service to friends/family while also raising money for the cause. The event is every May and so I was thinking of offering cupcakes or cookies through the month of March at regular price and advertise that all of my profit will be donated towards the event.

Has anyone done something similar to this? Is there a better way I should go about this? All feedback is appreciated. I love baking and any excuse to bake for people and reach my $ goal at the same time would be awesome!

A friend of mine did chocolate covered strawberries to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure last year. A mutual friend was battling stage 3B breast cancer at the time, and our team was in honor of her fight.

She had so many orders for strawberries, she was up morning till night making them and still ran out!

I guess if you have a lot of friends who will order, be prepared to bake till you drop!

Do you know if there was a special way she went about pricing them or advertising them to friends?

Facebook. She did I think $15 for 1/2 doz and $30 for a doz. Since it was for a fundraiser, people didn't mind paying it for strawberries…to be honest, they weren't that good and looked sloppy! haha!

She had a pickup location and 2-3 people manning the payment area.

Basically she had a Facebook page dedicated to her fundraiser. People messaged her with their orders. Their name got put into her computer after she confirmed it with them. She was able to print out a spreadsheet then so she knew how many she needed.

When people picked up, they paid and their names got crossed off the list!

Hope that helps a little!
