do you want the top of the 8" tier to be smaller than the footprint of the 6"  tier?

if not you'll need to maybe do a 9x6x3  or a 10x7x4 or a different configuration--

or even maybe a 12x8x4--

but i mean it's stacked like any other tier cake--

are you using a separation between the cakes?

or are they stacked right on top the other?

Yes I do need the top of the 8" to be smaller than the bottom of the 6"

The bride sent me a picture of a paper figure she made to show me how she wanted it! My only concern was stacking the cakes on almost a point of the cake below! That doesn't give me a lot of room to dowel. (If that makes sense)

I was thinking of running a center rod down the whole cake and using flanges to hold up the middle and top tier. Im thinking if I do it that way, I will need to make the cake slightly larger with having a rod down the whole cake

would she go for the floating stand? that would be the easiest but you'd have to make sure the plates would fit your design--

and since she wants it that way you can use a board on the 8" that is almost as big as the footprint of the tier on top then place your dowel just where they won't show--

there's this too--lookie what i found--

but you can get your own clear acrylic tubes and plates at the cake store and diy it too

but that link will make one for yah too

whoa cool
