I have been searching and can't seem to find any red peppermint fillings, I want to make a white cake with red filling like a candy cane? Or does that sound gross?

I goggled candy cane BC and found a lot of recipes, most of them started with vanilla BC and were flavored with crushed candy cane dust which made a lovely pink color. I'm sure they sell a flavoring or extract-I've seen peppermint extract and peppermint flavored white chocolate but to me the flavors are a bit different.

They also sell Hershey's kisses that are a candy cane flavor, that might be yummy to stick in your batter, depending how much you like the flavor. I think it would be great with white or chocolate cake.

I've made a filling using my favorite buttercream and adding chopped white and red Andes peppermint candies.  Here is a tutorial I created making Christmas candy canes using this filling.
