Hi,

I'm making a 3D Mini Cooper cake for a friends 21st birthday! Has anyone ever tried to use the Wilton 3D car tin and made it look like a Mini or am I better off carving a cake? PS I have never carved a cake before so I'm understandably wary of this!!

Thanks!

A boxy car like the mini should be fairly simple to just carve from cake. I don't really know what the Wilton car pan looks like but I think it may actually be harder to do it that way.

I used it to make a Grave Digger Monster truck cake. To make the back a hatchback I used crumbs from what I leveled off the bottom , mixed those with some buttercream and pressed and moulded them on top of the "trunk" of the 3D cake to fill it in up to the roof  and molded it with my hands. ( if that makes any sense at all .lol)

You may need to do some carving but I found it much easier using the pan than carving from square cakes like I normally did.
