Shaped fruit cake

Thread Starter
Hey,

I am wanting to bake a star shaped fruit cake for christmas. I am worried with the long baking time that the 'arms' of the star will bake quicker than the centre and dry out.

Any suggestions?

Could you put a flower nail in the centre to help with cooking through that part of the cake?

If the arms do dry out, just douse them with extra alco when you're soaking the cake after it's baked.

An easy solution would be to get a few washcloths.  Soak them and roll them up to fit in between the points of the star.  Then tie the whole thing up with a bake-even strip.
