Hello,

I'm in a desperate need to find a good fondant mat. I've been using the Wilton Fondant mat and I hate it for several reasons. I would appreciate your recommendations.

Thank you.

There have been many discussions on the pros and cons of The Mat, use the Search function you will find a lot of threads on this subject.

I too love the Mat.  I have my original one and purchased the newer one with the markings.  They really improved upon the Mat with their newer one (and I loved the older one).  It isn't as stiff so it makes it easier to work, roll back up and to care for.  So much easier and no mess.  I felt it was well worth the investment.

Hi,

Where do you order it? Did you get it from this website? http://sweetwise.com/the-pro-mat.html

Also, when you say the newer improved mat, do you mean the Pro Mat?

Thank you so much for your help.

The Mat is definitely one of my better investments.  I highly recommend this product.  You will love it.

I bought the new pro mat,but have just ordered the original mat because all the writing, markings etc have worn away on the new pro mat..Has anyone else with the new pro mat had this problem. If the markings are going to wear away I reckon I could save some money by going for the original with no markings.

Kosha, yes I ordered mine through sweet wise and did get the pro mat.

Bighand, I haven't had any problem with the markings wearing away but you may be using yours more.  I am just practicing so I do maybe one a week and not always fondant.  But so far it doesn't show any signs of wear.

No problems with the markings as of yet. I really like the mat, especially since you can wrangle a large round without have to touch it as much.  Really helps when rolling for a big cake.  But, it doesn't work with Fondarific.  Will not let go without tearing.  Works well with Fondx and pretty good with the Massa brand from Albert Uster, that's all I've tried so far.

I too have the pro mat, and of course I love it!  I did notice that if you accidentally use the side with the print on it, it will come off on your fondant, so be careful, otherwise, no problem.  I bought my Pro Mat from SweetWise.  I have been trying for the past 10 months to order the Original, and the mini, mats from SweetWise, but they have been out of stock the entire time!  I contacted the store in Texas, I think it was, about the problem, they said they had them in stock, but could not sell & ship it to me, I had to come to the store, or order it on line from them.  The 'online' did not have it.  The 'store' did.  But the 'store' would not sell it to me over the phone & ship it to me.  So I got NO help from SweetWise on this matter, at all.  AND they are still out of stock online!  When I watch the gals on Craftsy do their thing, they just use vinyl sheets from the fabric store, but then they also use pvc pipe for rolling pins & flower formers. We are in the septic business, so I have access to lots of pvc pipe, just can't get a handle on bringing it into the house... lol  Gotta luv um.
