AHi all, I am going to be making cake pops for the first Time, I will be making 75 of them, how long will they stay fresh for? (how long can I make them before the party) also do I use the same mix as I do for cupcakes? I will. Be using a cake pop machine, I need to make 75 cake pops, 75 cupcake and a 2tier cake for Sunday, so need to start soon, thanks in advance xx :D
You can freeze the uncoated pops for quite a while, just like freezing cake layers. Once you dip them they stay fresh for at least a week I'd say. But I would definitely suggest against a frosting/filling mix that needs to be refrigerated because cooling/thawing pops that have been coated already can cause them to form condensation on the outside and get a little waxy.
I'm not sure about the mix question though. I don't use mixes but I feel like it would be perfectly fine to use a cupcake mix. Especially if the cake pop maker has the baking time set for you?
What are you coating them with?
AThanks, I didn't mean a mix as in a packet mix, I mean would I use the same ingredents as I would in cupcakes, will be using candy melts of chocolate, don't like the sound of freezing them, it all needps to be down by Saturday evening so when do u sagest I start. X

Whoops! Sorry, my misinterpretation there! Your cupcake recipe should be just fine :)
You might find that you need to thin your melted candy with a little bit of shortening (I use Crisco). When I use a whole bag of melts I usually add about a tablespoon, maybe even less. Play with the consistency and do a few trial dips.
As far as a time line goes they're pretty quick. Bake one night, dip the next.
