Assuming this is 5 tiers of cake, 6", 8", 10", 12", 14", how many servings would you say this is?  This is my first wedding cake that I'm making for a friend, so I don't have much experience with wedding serving sizes.  I'm particularly wondering if the shorter 2" layers would be cut according to the standard wedding cutting guide, or if they'd be cut larger, since they're shorter. 

My friend & her fiance are expecting 250-300 guests, so I was hoping to add a 16"x2" layer to the bottom so they would have enough servings, but I fear that cutting the shorter tiers in larger servings would mean that they wouldn't have enough.

according to how I calculate (using the wilton chart) that cake will serve 168. I would halve the number of servings for the shorter tiers as I will cut 2"x2" pieces instead of the 1"x2" for the higher tiers.

Thank you for your reply, Cakechick.  That is what I thought, that they would need to cut the shorter tier servings twice as large, so I'm re-thinking the design.

CWR41, yes I figured the shorter tiers in this design aren't actually cake, but if I do something similar to this design, I would make them cake.  Thanks for your response.
