Hi,

There is a new cupcake shop opening near me. The owner is interested in hiring me to do cakes for her shop. She does not, currently, have an actual cake decorator. She explained to me that any "special type" cakes were contracted out, at great expense to her company. Or undecorated dessert type cakes were put together with the customers understanding, the shop wasn't able to do anything fancy.  I am  unsure of what sort of hourly wage I should request. I am not looking for benefits: retirement, medical insurance and such. This shop is an a VERY affluent area in central New Jersey. When I left my cake decorating job, in another state, I was making nearly $15 per hour. This was many years ago, though. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
