AHas anyone ever messed up and redone the fondant on their cake so many times that finally you decided that instead of pulling it off and restarting, you just left the ugly fondant underneath and put a new layer on top? I was doing this 6 inch bottom 4 inch topped stacked halloween birthday cake, I redid the top about 10 times. Once even starting over from scratch, new cake and everything. I think the problem was the buttercream being too thick and soft under. I don't know. I've never got it on there perfect. But in the end, it turned out okay. YEP! I had a wedding cake that I used Marshmallow Fondant on. It was about 100 degrees here in August. I covered the tiers the night before, came out in the morning, and the fondant had stretched partially off 3 of the tiers. I tried to get it off the cakes. It would come off all of them except one. So I just put another layer over it. It was either that or cake would have been late. It looked beautiful and got a TON of compliments on the flavor.
