hi! i made a cake, covered it with fondant and then decorated it with some royal icing swirls... but as soon as the swirls dried, some of them are starting to fall off. the royal icing has a very stiff consistensy. do you have any comments? trank you, and apologies in advance for my bad english
I never pipe with royal icing. To me, royal icing is for cookies. I would try to pipe them in butter cream. Not sure what you are defining as "swirls" though....? Can you send a pic?
AYour piping tip/nozzle may have been too small/ or there weren't enough layers. I find if you use s small tip with only one layer its really really fragile and they break
thanks for your answers, it's the firs time i do this, and I was told to work with royal icing, so I did. in spanish it's called "Punto Muerto", but "swirls" was the best word I had to describe them. here is a picture. not a perfect job, because, as I said, was my firs time doing it, and the tip was bigger than ususal
the pieces you see on the cake board, are some of the "swirls" that fell off
AI think royal icing was the right icing for the job....i see what you were trying to do.
My guess is maybe you moved the cake too soon ....because it looks like the swirls dried. That's really all I can think of.
also there is a Spanish section on this website if you feel more comfortable there :). Your English is fine,no need to apologize!!
