What Do Y'all Make Your Figures From?

AGoing to be making some pumpkins and superheroes and never sculpted my own figures before. What do you use?
ADepends on hoe big, how posed and how much time you have. I use rkt in my cores to get a really good posture. If I plan ahead and if the cust gives me enough time, then gumpaste. To sculpt I like fondant and tylo. It's like clay, lovely to work with but if you need extravagant stuff the drying time is too long x x x x
AThese are great suggestions, Thanks!! I knew I should have picked up some of that tylose last time I was at Hobby Lobby. And darn, they are closed tomorrow. Do you think they see that at grocery stores?
AI do have some of that wiltons decorating dough. Maybe I can use that like fondant and wrap it around some rice crispy treats. ??
AModeling chocolate. No one wants to eat gumpaste of wads of fondant, and chocolate works SOOOOOO much better.
AI'm guessing modeling chocolate is made from white chocolate? Which I do have a stash of. I'm so new at this and try and pick up something or several something's I don't have every time I'm at the store. What else would I need?
I use fondant with added Tylose - but my figures aren't usually for eating (although my neice did eat a shoe I made with a stick of spaghetti holding up the heel and she didnt even notice!). If people wanted to eat the figures I think I'd use modelling chocolate.

I think people always want to eat them. Kids will snatch them up first before the cake itself. I've even had my kids try to eat gumpaste flowers when they were younger - they learned. Heh.

That's very true. Because all my cakes have been for friends and family, I'm always the one who cuts it up and tries to steer the kids away from eating the figures. Don't want to crack little teeth. I haven't tried modelling chocolate before, not too sure how it would hold up in the hot Sydney weather? Definitely have to add it to the to-do list.
