How much is a good price for custom cookies?

Ingredients + special cutter would be about 31 dollars... for 30 cookies.

how much labor would be added per cookie - and also, if you buy a special cutter and fix in the price, do you give them the cutter when you're done - since they 'bought' it?

Why is it when I post a question - it never goes to the front page of topics?? No one ends up seeing my question for hours...?

I dunno, I just saw it.... on the front page also!
well, I'm sure that you sill get a lot of answers, but you have to be sure to account for your time and skill not just the stuff to make them... We had a cookie blossom place near here, and their cookies were $7 each.... and they were that good too!
And no, when I buy stuff for any reason, it's always mine at the end of the day. Mine mine mine. that's why my basement is out of control!

Yeah I called some cookie places and they charge 6 for 1 large and 3 for one mini... I know it's worth it - but I get the feeling the ppl who ask me won't think it's worth it if I say even 2.00 each. They always throw in - "I'm on a budget" and make me feel guilty! icon_sad.gif

If they are really on a budget, they can go buy a nice box of Oreos. Your time and expertise are worth something! If your hard costs (ingredients and equipment) are more than 50% of your price, then you aren't charging enough. Unless they are close friends, if they can't afford what they have asked for then they need to simplify the order or go to the local grocery store. Don't worry about the cost of the cutter, just build it into the estimate. If you don't value your work, nobody else will either! And in the words of Cher, "if it were easy, everybody would do it."

Don't let the "budget" thing make you feel like it's your responsibility. If the budget was that close then they would make it themselves right? Your time and energy and most definitely your effort are worth something. And if you checked with a place and they chg $6 for a large one then they ARE getting a really good deal. Don't sweat it and good luck!

I am laughing at drwendy's comment about buying oreos...too funny! Ineeded to hear that myself, I am the worst at feeling guilty about what I charge, even though I know I never charge enough. I just charged 1.50 per serving for a wedding cake I should have charged at LEAST 2.50 a serving for, 'cause I'm always afraid they will think it's too much.

I've never done cookies, but personally, if the ingredients and supplies cost 31$, I would charge at least 62$. If I need a new pan then I don't charge the person extra for it, unless maybe if it was something I would never use again, but I definitely would not give them the cookie cutter, you will probably need it again. Good luck!

is it a cookie cutter that you could possibly use later? if so, maybe you could split that cost with them. How big are the cookies and how are they decorated? Most popular price seems to be $1 per inch for a decorated cookie.
