Just tried the draping technique on a buttercream frosted cake and it turned out pretty good. Have to get the spacing technique down. Wish I had taken pics, though. Looked almost like a fondant drape.
Ohh...next time you do one, take pics as you go along and make a How To article, and submit it to Jackie or Heath, please with sugar on top...I would love to see how it's done.
I'll do a small cake this weekend to practice more and take pics. You let the icing set (crust) for about 10-15 minutes, then with a Viva paper towel on the side, I use the fondant smoother to push down on the side then repeat and stop just at the top of the 1st drape. Sounds odd but it looked really nice--just spacing and getting drapes the same depth, I have to work on.

In fact, you gave me the idea, I just couldn't remember where I saw it. Yours looks so much better than mine. I'm so glad you saw this post because everybody needs to see your BC draping. I think it looks great.
