Ideas on Correct Containers to use for Edible Cake Toppers

Hi,

I am thinking of starting my own business making edible cake toppers. These would manly be made out of sugar paste(fondant) and florist paste(gum paste). I am going to make a selection of cake toppers for a Christmas market and if that is successful I plan on starting my own business. I was wondering what is the correct way to package these items? Some Christmas plaques and some 3D figures, so I will need two different types of packaging. I am based in Ireland.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!:D

Thank you!

I have never shipped toppers but a customer of mine had ordered her daughter's bday cake toppers before she ever found me to do her cake - in my photos there should be a Pink Poodles in Paris cake.  They were adorable fondant pink poodles.  They came wrapped gently in bubble wrap.  They were placed in a box with crumpled up tissue paper, I think.  It included instructions, of course, to keep out of sunlight, away from moisture, etc.  I also think there were some silica packets in there.  Also tips on if something broke off, how to repair it.  These were made months in advance so they had TONS of time to dry.

Good luck, I have thought about doing this, too, but wanted to improve my people face skills first!

Let us know how it goes!
