Fist time frosting a styrofoam dummy cake in buttercream.  Are there any tips/tricks that I should know about?  Thank you.

Don't go too light on the buttercream.  I did that with my first one and thought it looked ok at first, but then realized it was too light and you could kind of see the foam through it in spots.  Had to fix it.

Dummies are *VERY!* lightweight.  Put some tacks or small/short nails thru cardboard to hold it (just as you would put a real cake on the board 1st),  then put that on a non-skid piece of shelf liner.

Press rather hard when applying &/or smoothing to make sure the icing is anchored to the styro.

Thank you for all the hints!  Do you wet the styrofoam first or just put the icing right on it?
