AOk, I received an order for a Guiness Pint glass cake. I was super excited to make this cake. I decided I would just stack and support every 2 layers with a dowel down the middle. Well wrong, as I was carving the cake to a pint glass shape my cake started to lean and eventually fell over. I was out of time. Feeling horrible I called the client and broke the news. Luckily, when baking I decided to make 2 extra 8" rounds. In the end I made a guiness bottlecap cake. My question here is...where did I go wrong? Help! It is now my mission to give this client a guiness pint glass cake.
Because the cake would be tall and fairly thin, I'd build it on a central pole that was anchored to a plywood board. I'd put every 4 inches of cake on a board and dowel below it and carve.
