Hey everybody, i have a birthday cake to make as a surprise for a friend (his fiancée requested it)

He's very much into his mountain biking and i want to make him a mountain bike helmet cake.

i only have one question, how to i make the visor so its strong but thin enough to look at least a little realistic.

Do you think gum paste will do??

i would need to be able to attach it to the cake so im guessing ill need skewers in the visor part so i can stick it into the cake,  Edible isn't completely necessary. here's the design im going for

I would dry the gum paste visor over a form so it has a good fit on the helmet.  I think the visor is going to be fragile because of the size and how thin you will be making it.  If the weather is not hot,  I would most likely use melted chocolate to attach and give it a quick shot of freeze spray to hold it immediately.

Just an idea :)
