hey :) does anyone know what type of food colouring you're supposed to use in cakes? everytime I use liquid red food colouring it gives the cakes a weird taste :(

I think most bakers use gel paste coloring, at least I do.

Unless you purchase no taste red food coloring, it will give it a weird taste, whether it is a gel food coloring or not.  For the wilton brand they call it "no taste" red, and americolor it's the Tulip Red.  Be careful with blue and orange too.  They also can leave a funny taste if you use too much.
