Hi,

I wanted to put a black fondant ribbon that is covered in edible black glitter at the base of each tier I am making.  The tiers are round and white.  This is what I'm planning to do, but I'm not sure if there is another way to minimize glitter fallout:

I will apply the border first, and then wet it with a paintbrush and carefully stick the glitter on using my fingers.  Is this the best way?   I don't want to get it above the border on the white fondant.

AI used gold disco dust on a topper once. I didn't have any fallout, and I am pretty sure I just dampened the fondant with a little water to adhere.

AProbably need to cut the ribbon out, dampen it, put the glitter on, then put it on the cake. I think you'll just get it all over the cake the way you're describing. It's going to get on it no matter what, but shaking it off a bit first and then applying will probably be the cleanest way.

Is the cake frosted in buttercream or is it covered in fondant? If it is covered in fondant, what I do when applying something like that is to take Press-n-seal and wrap it around the cake tiers below the top one. I add the possible messy component to the top tier and then carefully remove the Press-n-seal from around the cake tier below it. I do this again for the second tier by wrapping Press-n-seal around the tier below that and so on for each tier including covering the board with Press-n-seal while I apply the item to the bottom tier. Because they won't go all the way around the cake - they're only like 11-12 in long. But I like the way you think!

You can get the sheets very close to seamless, and if you can still see the seem accent it with a flower or a bow. The nice thing about the luster sheets is the luster does not fall off.

I cut my ribbon, dampen it, glitter it and pop it in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes.  It is easy to handle when wrapping around the cake, and the glitter doesn't fall off.  It's ok if it doesn't lay flat in the freezer.  Usually the sides are curved upward on either side of the inside of the freezer.  Or I'll do 2 pieces (one longer than the other so the seems are at the back of cake) and adhere something at the seems or just try my best to blend them with water once on the cake.
