AOk so I will be making my first wedding cake in November. It's a very simple yet elegant design. It's going to be 5 big tiers but the bottom one will be fake. It's all white fondant with a bunch if rhinestones and jewelry and diamond looking pendants and brooches cascading down the side. My question: where on earth do I find that stuff? I looked at hobby lobby and they have a ton of stuff like that but they're very small at about $10 a piece!! Is that the going rate? Anyone know where I might find them a little cheaper? google rhinestone jewelry, you might be able to find quite a bit.  Rhinestone jewelry is expensive, the jewels on that cake look like they may have cost around $500.00 all together.

AThank you! Also, what would put it on to transport? Do I need to make a base? Buy a sturdy board? I'm sure a cake board isn't what I need for a wedding cake. Lol

Also, you will need some type of wood board if the cake is going to be that large. You can get MDF at Lowes or Home Depot. Have them cut it for you. You could also look for pre-made table tops there as well. Some may be painted. You can cover it in cake foil then roll fondant over it. Just be sure to moisten the foil. I would put a complimenting ribbon around the edge. It will make the whole cake look very finished. 

If the cake wasn't going to be so large, you could use a standard cake drum (a bunch of pieces of cardboard slapped together and covered in the foil or really thick foam core pieces put together and covered with foil.)

love this cake but it's going to be either very expensive or very time consuming to make.

There are a lot of silicone brooch molds on the market now (Karen Davies range on Global Sugar Art comes to mind, but there are also cupcake toppers in the style of brooches) that you can use and dust them with edible dusts/lustre sprays and incorporate sugar diamonds/silver dragees. Doing it this way will take a lot of time to make the amount needed for that cake design.

If you have to buy real brooches I would advise the bride as soon as possible that this will have to be factored into the cost and have an estimate ready for her.  It is a beautiful cake though!

Actually, just thinking, if the other sources/sites the other posters mentioned don't have brooches at a price that would be suitable, you could try a florists' wholesalers.  They usually have a lot of blingy stuff at very good prices for adding to bridal bouquets, etc.
