Well...the party's over!! lol Been over since 4pm, actually...for my daughter Audrey...she'll be 1 on Monday. I wasn't able to do what I originally planned, (chenille effect in a lattice pattern to match the dress) due to car trouble 2 days in a row & not having enough time to work on the cake last night/this morning, but thanks to lots of advice from HollyPJ, gdixoncakes and others, I think it turned out great! First time with MMF, first time making any kind of flower except for drop flowers, first time using cream cheese icing to decorate with....NEVER again!! But it tasted great! The bottom tier is a key lime cake with cream cheese key lime filling...top tier is white cake with strawberries and cream filling. They both tasted great. The bottom cake was actually green and the top one was white and because of the strawberries the filling was pink....a totally color coordinated birthday cake!!! lol I should of taken pictures of the cake when it was cut....it really looked cool. Some of the centers on my flowers are too big, but that's ok. I used some green sugar crystals on the top then placed the flowers and MMF initial. It's not perfect, but I learned alot...still have a TON to learn!! lol The picture of both the cakes on the table is a little fuzzy, something was going on with my camera.

(On this day last year Hurricane Ivan was coming onto land & the eye passed right over my house...I was 9 months pregnant with Audrey!! We were in Atlanta & on our way home I went into labor...just went straight to the hospital and 45 minutes later she was born!! Imagine laboring in the front seat of a car with a 4yr old and 2 yr old in the back seat, stuck in traffic on the interstate from all the evacuees trying to get back home!! Not fun!....Sorry to ramble, but all the memories came flooding back tonight!! icon_rolleyes.gif )

I love both your cakes Jenn.. and that little dress is adorable.. Now it is too bad you can't show us a pic of your little darling in her dress eating her cake.. I am soooooo anxious for grandchildren.. My daughter got married last summer and they have been "trying" to get pregnant but so far no luck.. She is 32 and is anxious to start a family, and I am very anxious to be a grandma.
You did a fantastic job on your cakes.. icon_smile.gif

Jenn, I loved the cakes! I also didn't notice the leaves were missing. I think that they look great. And the oversized flowers were perfect for a 1 y/o birthday. They love everything big and eyepopping!! I bet everyone loved the entire day!! Congrats to you!

Cute cake JennT. Happy birthday Audrey.
Your cake sounds so yummy--I don't get to experiment with Key Lime too much and I don't care to deorate with Cream Cheese frosting, either.
Hope you guys have a wonderful day--Pam

I LOVE that dress, OMG I can just pic my little princess wearing that too, it is absolutely adorable! So neat how you coordinated everything too it (oh and I didn't realise the leaves were missing either, until you said it lol). And the cake itself too, YUM! Were you able to enjoy the party too? I had a blast with my daughter's first, kinda sad how fast it goes...

Jenn,

You did a wonderful job on those cakes! Aren't birthdays the best? A time to celebrate and appreciate what life is all about. You and your family have been through a lot lately but you saw it through together and here you are celebrating your little girl's 1st birthday! May she have many more birthday's just as happy as this one!
