I tried a homemade gumpaste recipe here not to long ago and wasn't thrilled with what I got - perhaps I need to work on it more, but is there a "fabulous" recipe you all recommend?

I am tinkering, so I'm ideally looking for the trifecta of easy to use, inexpensive to make and somehow miraculously turns my limited skills into something worthy of cake nirvana.

I swear by Nicholas Lodge gum paste, goggle it and you will get the recipe. There are many other ways to make it. This is just one. :) Good luck.

I've tried several commercial gumpastes and gum paste mixes, many recipes, including Scott Clark Woolley's, and found that Nicholas Lodge's was the simplest and least expensive to make. Fortunately, it is also gives the best results, in my opinion. I keep some on hand in the refrigerator and in the freezer so I'm never without. I just love it; it can be rolled incredibly thin and I've never experienced the cracking that some complain about.

I think if you try it, we will be experiencing the birth of a new resident in Cake Nirvana!
