Hello Everyone!!! :D

I have a quick question and I know that everyone is going to have a different answer but here it is... I'm relatively new to cake decorating and I'm still trying to get a feel for pricing a cake... I've never had anyone tell me that my cakes are cheap or expensive... Anywho I had to make this cake for a customer and its for about 50 people... She wanted a lot more details on the cake such as a camera, phone, gloves, mustache and glasses plus everything that this cake has... I quoted her on $210 with everything that she wanted... Then she got back to me telling me that it was out of her budget and what could I do to bring down the price on the cake... I explained to her that the more details the cake has the more expensive it is due to the time I spend on it... So we decided to omit those items and I quoted her again on $175 and she said that it was perfect... Now I'm reconsidering if I was charging to much for that cake or if she was just trying to bring her price down... I also charged her $10 for delivery so the total was $185 are people so picky that they fight over $25 on a cake???

AYou were not charging too much at all! I would've charged at least $200 just for what you have there.

I don't think you were overcharging to begin with. Your first quote would have made the price to be $4.20 per serving which to me seems normal/on the cheaper side. I'm thinking she just wanted to haggle with you to see if she could get what she wanted for a cheaper price.
