We don't have ready-made fondant where I live, so I have to make fondant myself and I find marshmallow fondant easier to make since I am a beginner, while I know nothing about gumpaste. Kindly, answer the following questions:

1) Which one is better for covering cakes?
2) Which one is better tasting?
3) Do gumpaste and MMF harden up or remain soft?
4) Which one is better for making little figures?

Thanks a million!

1) Gumpaste is not for covering cakes - it dries rock hard and would potentially break teeth lol

2) marshmellow fondant is by far better tasting

3) gumpaste hardens very much - MMF much softer especially if its covering a cake

4) gumpaste is by far the best for figurines - MMF will not harden enough

You are very welcome! I know how hard it is when you are starting out and don't know what to use - all the options can be overwhelming :) Just remember "google" is your friend lol and watch lots of tutorial videos!

MMF will only work for 3D figures only if you add tylose as, gum text, or cmc as it becomes Gum paste when adding this products, which  by the way are used for this purpose in specific.Gum paste as already said is specifically for making figures because it has already added this products. and yes MMF is easier and very tasty :)

AIf you are making figures and they will likely be eaten, use modeling chocolate. MMF is way too soft.
