Hello All,

Since I starting out with the baking business most of my customers now are friends/family, most of them inviting me to the event they are having as well as doing the cake.

They are nice enough to say I did the cake, should i be passing out my business cards or putting cards by the cake display? they are paying for the cake so I feel its tacky, or should i just give one to those that ask for a card or no cards at all???

I want to build my customers up but not be tacky or distasteful about it.

what are your thoughts?!?!

i started the same way, once ca got cottage food. I wasn't sure if it was rude but, then when family and friends started asking me to bring cards and menus I didn't feel bad. i always drop them off with the host or hostess and if anyone ask they can give them out. 

Im sure your family and friends would be more than happy to promote for you. 

AI always have cards with me, so if someone asks I will discreetly hand them one. Putting them next to a paid for cake, or treating a birthday party like a business mixer and handing out cards, I would agree is tacky.

Never display your cards near your cake but if you want to slip one underneath the cake board :) . Make sure your name / info is on cake board under side. Always ,always have your cards with you.
