Its my worst nightmare to make a cake nobody eats. They finally sell dummies here so I'm going to try doing some up for the Farmer's Market...if I ever get organized. It sounds like a ton of work to sell at a market, I haven't even been able to bring myself to do a garage sale for the past 4 years. LOL.
I should get back at this tribal art cake. Just need to whip up the frosting with blackberry reduction and then I can start the hours long process -for me- of frosting a cube!

Oh BatterUp. Its beautiful. I have a question, How high are those tiers? I bought some square cake dummies the other day. They are 4 inches and seem on the low side. Looking at yours, yours look about the same height as mine.
I know heaps of cake decorators buy them!! You may decide one day you want to make them, but I'm going to venture into flowers soon and I know that as easy as the tutorials make it look, it's going to take a lot of practice! $2.50 each is a great price! I think if I had made them, I'd be asking more like $10 a flower, lol! And that's only because it would take me forever - hahaha.
My local cake store just started carrying them. I had made my own before...just a few roses as most of my cakes aren't flowery....but when I saw that price and then went online and saw what I could order them for I decided that I would buy them until I got faster at making them. I know a lot buy them but I want to know how to do them myself. Although soon I may not have time for cake orders. Some stuff is brewing in the cake stand business I need 2 of me!!
