I am starting to do more detailed fondant faces and cutouts of children's characters. By hand, this is obviously a PITA, especially when I am doing several dozen of the same one, and they have 7 different parts!

I was thinking of getting one of the Silhouette cutters, but I have only found the one website with pictures of cakes done with the cutter.

I was wondering if anybody could show me actual pictures of cutouts done with the cutter. Children's characters, multi-piece cutouts, things like that, not just simple silhouettes (although that is another reason to buy it!)

I would just like to know that it can do detailed, multi-piece work, to help cut down on the time and tedium for cutting these faces.

Also, I am assuming it could also be used to cut flower petals for making many flowers and those lovely petal trimmed cakes?

There are several examples in my gallery. I used the Silhoutte to cut the damask cake, numbers & letters on the jersey cake, the monogram on a few cakes....lots of examples

Thanks for the info, but that is not what I am looking for, really. On Linda's site, she has the outline/silhoutte, and then colored in or printed. There is some lovely cut out lacy/detail work, and that is something I would like to do, but I am looking to be able to cut out all the pieces to be able to do something like this. Since it can cut out general shapes, I am assuming it could do all the different pieces to Bert and Ernie as well?

Who still need shirt collars, BTW. It just took forever to cut them out with an exacto knife, and I am looking for a faster way to cut out all the tiny pieces-mouths, tongues, noses, as well as the larger face shapes and the sign. I still have to cut out the yellow lining for the sign. :( This is just for 1 dozen-if I had to do 12 or something!?!?!

Yes.  It would cut all the tongues from pink, mouths from black/red, outer shapes.  Of course, any pieces you wanted to be dimensional (such as eyes & nose) would still need to be made from hand.

I used the silhouette to cut paper for my son's birthday photo banner.  I broke all the designs into pieces & cut them on the correct paper.  One paper had white & blue dots, another had stripes, etc.  I then cut all the blue shapes, red shapes, etc.  

The Silhoutte cutter would do this, but they are much flatter.  Why don't you just call Icing Icings and talk to them? They're very helpful and specialize in this product. Not so sure about mass producing Big Bird and Cookie Monster, if that's what you're planning.

Sorry I don't have an example on cake.  But, you can get the idea.  This is a photo of all the scrapbook photo pages.  Every bit was cut from the silhouette including letters & numbers.  I started with blank colored paper.  There is a tiny bit of ribbon.  All else is cut paper.

I think they went well with the Dr Seuss cake. Poor baby barely got a 2 layer this year.
