Hey there!  Im brand new on this website, but everytime I have any questions relating to cake making, I always wind up on here, because you guys are so helpful!  So, I have a wedding cake Im making, 4 tiered, covered in fondant... and the wedding is this Sunday. (the 8th)  I was wondering, how many dowels will I need per cake?  The cake sizes are 14 inch, 12 inch, 10 ich, and 8 inch.  Also, should I stack them, THEN transport?  Please let me know!!  Thanks so much! :)

I'd stack the bottom two tiers and refrigerate them overnight before transporting so that the cake is cold when you move it, then assemble the other two on site. As long as you do the dowelling correctly you don't need to make swiss cheese out of the cakes. For the 14" I put 6 in a circle then one in the center. The 12" I would use 6 total (5 and one in the middle), the 10" probably 6 as well since it's holding up an 8".

Have you stacked a cake before? I assume that if you're making a wedding cake you have.
