Hi does anybody know if I can use gelatin to make an edible mirror please. I was thinking if i could paint it silver on one side when it is dry. Not sure if it would work or how to do it

Thanks

Does it have to stand up, or is it laying down?

I've used silver leaf in the past for a mirror effect, it's pretty perfect for it.

I would add silver airbrush colour to the gelatin itself when you are making it, instead of trying to paint it on after. Then you can always lightly colour it more after if needed. You have to be careful painting gelatin to not saturate it.

Alternatively, you can also buy mirror glaze, or make edible varnish, and cover a piece of gum paste painted silver with that.
