Hello!

My name is Sarah, and I wanted to quickly introduce myself. I'm just getting into the field/hobby of decorating. My preference is for the 3D fun cakes. I'm learning as I go -- never went to school for this. I actually got into doing cakes shortly after I had my son, but got out of it when I went back to school and then work. 12 years later, I'm jumping back in. After seeing Despicable Me 2, I became obsessed with the Minions--notoriously obsessed. Finally, a friend showed me a Minion 3D cake a friend of his in Australia made. He challenged me to do the same, and I kinda went off the hook. That was my first 3D-er, and it came out so well, I'm now fielding requests from our friends. I'm WAY underpricing (free to fifty bucks) for now because I'm still learning. But I'm planning to post a per-serving price guide and begin charging a much more appropriate price for my custom work.

Anyhow, that's me! I'm digging this site both as inspirational and instructional. Looking forward to learning!

AWelcome, this is a great community, everyone is really helpful!

You should look into getting liscenced since your accepting compensation for your orders. Just check with your local Health Department.

I'm self taught as well. Good luck! When your ready check out the pricing forums and Jason Kraft's website. 3d and carved cakes take a lot more work typically so make sure you charge accordingly.
