Hi!

Over here is Sweden one can buy clear gelatine sheets. If you can do the same there then maybe you can cut out the circles from that for the glasses.....just a thought :)

I made a cake some time ago with eyeglasses on it. Looking back now, I can't stand the cake but here is the way I made the glasses:

The lenses are made of gelatin: 1 Envelope Knox softened in 1/4 cup water. Heat to dissolve then pour, or spread smoothly onto a sheet of acetate . Set aside for a day or so, (it will start to peel away when thoroughly dry). At that point, it will be like plastic and you can cut it with scissors. It takes marking readily with food color markers, and also makes fine dragonfly wings, or even windows or windshields. I love to work with it.

I made the frames with gum paste and set the lenses with either piping gel or soft gelatin. I can't remember which.

If you have knowledge, let others light their candles on it.

Never fear shadows. They simply mean there's a light shining somewhere nearby.

Hi, I made the glasses first I tried the gum paste frames but they did not look right, because the man himself wears silver frame glasses, and the model is very small,I got some very fine florist wire made the frames, dipped the lenses in liquid gelatine, left to set,and the looked just like real glasses,ya not all edible, but it made the model more life like, any way THANK YOU FOR THE TIPS,I think I would like to try more things with gelatine.
