Hello.

I'm baking a number 50 cake wherein one cake must be cherry.  customer doesn't care what flavor of frosting, but I've never made a cherry flavored cake before and haven't a clue what flavor of frosting would suit best??  Soooo....

1.  Please share a dense, carvable cherry cake recipe

2.  Please share a frosting that would go well with cherry cake

Thank you so much CC !!!

I would make a cherry chip WASC with extra (10oz) marichino cherries cut into the batter.  Ice cake with a dark chocolate ganache or fudge chocolate frosting.  Think chocolate covered cherries.

I agree chocolate would be great.  Another option is to make a vanilla butter cream, add some marchino cherry juice as your liquid.

AI made a cherry chip recently, and I did a chocolate filling with vanilla bc. I really liked the three flavors together.

AI love the cherry and pistachio combination, but cherry and chocolate sounds great

Cherry and chocolate or cherry and almond are classic combos.

2 - 11.x15 sheet pan OR 1 - 11x15 sheet pan, cut in half, stacked ?

AIf it was me, it would be either the 7 minute frosting or cherry flavored buttercream. I've made both and they're scrumptious either way!
