Hi,

I wanted to ask which forum is the proper place to post information about local classes? I see in the "Events" forum that they are working on some changes so I wasn't sure if that was the right place.

Can anyone help?

Based on information provided to me last year by the moderators, it is no longer allowed to post info about classes, shows, or even Days of Sharing. Nothing that involves a fee or payment.

Well that doesn't make any sense now does it?  Wouldn't it be beneficial to let people know about this kind of thing since this is a cake decorating website and there are multiple threads on people asking for exactly this kind of info?

Any moderator care to chime in here?

This site is a business and needs income to continue serving us. Since membership is free, revenue must come from somewhere - such as advertising for classes, products, services, etc.

Why would they pay for a class when so many offer free, specially tailored help? I think it makes a lot of sense.

AThey have listings for professional classes on the CC homepage. Not that I'm saying you aren't professional lol! I'm excited there are some coming up in Chicago that I'll be able to attend 'fingers crossed'. I know you'd like to post your own info but they are directing people to classes.

That's all fine and good if you are in the area that professional classes are being held. But I am more referring to local classes, not just in my area but in any area that are not being taught by big name decorators.

I don't see how that would hurt this website at all.  Just don't understand the logic.

AThey do show the cakes classes in various cities all over. I hear what your saying though. Perhaps they don't want this site to turn into a platform for free advertisement, sort of like where do you draw the line type thing. Who knows. I wouldn't take it personally though, another member was moving and selling all her supplies and they made her remove that.

Have you tried speaking with a moderator to see if you could possibly collaborate with them to set something up?
