I'm not sure if this is the correct topic I should be posting under, but I'm baking a chocolate cake soon and the recipe calls for coffee. I was wondering what kind of coffee I should buy (or if it even matters). Will any cheapy instant coffee work? If not, are there any brands or kinds you recommend? I know absolutely nothing about coffee and need some guidance on this matter. Thank you!
AI have a Keurig. So I just use any old k cup i have on hand. think it would be find with any instant coffee. I probably would go with a brand name like Folgers or something just to be safe.
Use an instant coffee, any brand, just not one made from chicory (which has an unusual flavor).
I use normal coffee- usually a darker, richer coffee. I make my coffee in a french press every morning, so this is how i make the coffee for my cakes. I'm sure instant would work just as fine too..I just don't have any in the house.
ps the brand I use is illy..but I don't think it probably matters, you can surely use a lesser quality type and it will be great.
Left over coffee is fine. If it is good enough to drink, it is fine for chocolate cake.
Chellupa: Instant Coffee crystals mixed in a little warm water, or coffee out of the pot.
