AHello Ladies and Gents! So I've been asked to make one of the following for a fellow music lover. A boom box or a cassette tape cake. Now normally I'd say I got this. BUT. My silly mind is drawing a blank. I have more or less an idea of what, or I should say where to start. But I can't seem to find any tutorials or How To pictures out there, nothing so far that are helpful. :-(

So I was wondering if you guys might have some awesome helpful tips I could use on this trip.

Any sensible tips will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Do you have a real one you can look at while making yours?  If you don't, print out some detailed pics of a real life boombox - the devil will be in the details on this one.  Knobs, buttons, etc can and should be made ahead, you'll also need some supports if you are going to make it standing upright. If you google, "boombox cake" and then click on images you can get a ton that other people have done.

AI'd get pictures from different angels, you can even blow them up to use as a guide for carving. They will also help make everything to scale, as Duke said, the details are super important for cakes like this.
