AHi guys, I've made pillow cakes before using just 2 layers of cake. I want the pillows to be big and fat, so I'm th king of using 4 layers. What do you guys think? I'm worried about the corners, is it gonna be too heavy as the corners will have no support underneath it. I sure don't want the corners to droop. Please let me know what you guys think.
I think a 4"layer pillow is too much. I think a 3" pan makes the best size of a pillow. I don't use 3" pans so I bake a 2" cake and keep the domed top to give me some more height. There is a tutorial here on CC that is very good. I used it when I did a pillow cake.
AThat's what I usually do too but the client wants more layers in order to get more filling inside. She knows the 2 layer will be fat with just one layer of filling.
I see. My opinion.. I would not allow the client to make me make a 4 layer pillow. I just think it will look dumb...that is my opinion. Clients have designs in their head but don't always know that what they want is not possible, or will look dumb. You only get one layer of filling with my pillow cake.
Good. It can be hard sometimes to disagree with a customer...but I always find they are usually very appreciative when I tell them what will look good...and what will not. Post pictures when you're finished!
